Lauren Dodson, Teacher
Miss Lauren’s love for ballet started when she herself was a “Monday Baby”.
Her Nanna and Grandad took her to her first class with Susan Richards, following in the footsteps of her Aunty who had also spent many happy years at SRBS.
During her time with Miss Richards, Miss Lauren achieved consistently high exam grades, excelled at choreography, winning competitions on numerous occasions at SRBS/YCSB, and at ARBTA Choreographic Competition ( Inter Schools) in Watford.
Miss Lauren’s passion for ballet grew stronger and stronger over the years. Throughout secondary school, college and working full time, ballet was always there, always her escapism.
In 2012, whilst pregnant with her first son, Miss Lauren did her teacher training with YCSB and passed her ARBTA Associate Ballet Teacher with credit
What motivates her as a teacher?
"I teach little me's in some way, I see their expressions, and excitement, sense their nerves and help them in every way I can not only as a ballet dancer but as an individual I can help them to gain confidence and make new friends, to have a bit of escapism if they need it but most of all give them the best experience of ballet class that I can possibly can. Every ballet class, ever since I can remember, I was always given the same. I will always be grateful to Helen and Miss Richards for giving me those wonderful years full of memories and teaching me how to pass the 'pearls of wisdom' onto each of our pupils."
